Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security process in which users provide two or more authentication factors to verify their identity. MFA enhances traditional username and password authentication by adding an additional layer of security, making it more difficult for unauthorized users to access sensitive information.

The authentication factors used in MFA can vary but typically include something the user knows (such as a password or pin), something the user has (such as a smart card or mobile phone), or something the user is (such as biometric data like a fingerprint or facial recognition).

By requiring multiple forms of authentication, MFA helps to reduce the risk of unauthorized access and is often required for access to sensitive information or systems, such as online banking, cloud-based applications, and more.
